Launceston Forum logo

The Launceston Forum is a community group consisting of representatives from a wide range of organisations across the Launceston area.

It was set up initially to tackle the community consultation for the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative process that began in 2001, focusing on Launceston town and the surrounding 21 parishes. The map illustrates the area we cover. The overall vision is for the people of the historic capital of Cornwall and its surrounding area to enjoy an improving quality of life based on a thriving 21st century economy that respects the natural and built environment. With this vision in mind, the Forum works closely with a wide range of partnership organisations including Cornwall County Council, Launceston Town Council, and the SW Regional Development Agency to take forward many of the issues raised in the public consultation exercise.

The funding that we achieved to enable us to employ a professional team has expired and in the present difficult economic climate we have been unable to continue their employment.  Unfortunately we have had to say goodbye to Lesley Nel and Jason Sculthorpe and we thank them sincerely for all the hard work that they have put in to improve Launceston and the surrounding area.

The Forum itself continues and the Board of Directors are determined to continue to work with other community groups with the aim of building capacity to deliver and overcome issues raised in the Community Strategic Plan (you can download a copy from the home page).
With the new unitary authority Cornwall Council being formed and the anticipated Community Network, the Forum are looking forward to continuing their work in partnership with the Community Network, Launceston Town Council and any other partners with similar objectives to improve the facilities for the local community.
